Mobile Phone Reviews - Nokia X2-01 Review - Price is Good

Nokia recently launched the X2-01, another phone in the X2 series. Considering the current market, Nokia is a bit lagging behind in the Indian cell phone market. Competitors like Samsung, Micromax, and other companies are launching their models in an unprecedented way.

Nokia X2-01 is now available in three colors - red, deep gray, and silver color. In my opinion, the main motive behind launching this phone is to capture the college guys out there who are looking for a phone that is good with social networking sites. Pricing of the phone is good enough to please Indian costumers. The phone is available in the range of Rs. 3800 to Rs 4000.

Pros

The phone looks good for the price tag which it comes. Bright screen, vibrant colors and good visibility in sunlight.

Nokia X2-01 is a full qwerty styled keypad phone which is good for instant messaging on the go. Avid Facebook and twitter users will certainly like this phone. With screen size of 2.4 inches updating status on Facebook and twitter is hassle-free. The qwerty keypad makes updating Facebook and Twitter in a flash. Also there is this handy little Facebook and Twitter feed widgets that delivers live feeds from your network. The home screen is customizable with these widgets which makes accessing them very easy.

It has opera mini browser from which you can surf the net and search for stuff you like. Checking mails isn't a problem, but watching videos on Youtube.com is a bit sloppy. Sending e-mails or reading them won't be a problem either. Also typing those long e-mails works out good. As this is not a 3G device don't buy this device hoping to get great surfing experience. Go for a 3G handset instead. But all in all using Internet is good. The device can used to a good extent for Internet usage.

If you like to listen music on your way to work or college then this phone is a good companion. The phone is good for listening music. Supports up to 8 GB microSD memory. Supports mp3, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+ and WMA. Supporting .Mp3 files will be more than good enough to listen songs. So listening your favorite songs and refreshing yourself on your way seems perfect with Nokia X2-01. With Nokia mini speaker MD-9 the phone comes alive. Songs are downloadable from the OVI store or directly from your PC. Obviously supports bluetooth, so that you can transfer data from other mobile phones.

The phone has in-built radio. So all you radio lovers can't complain. The radio player is customizable by the different radio themes that the phone has. The customizable one touch music key is good for opening music library or FM radio on the go.

Cons

The phone lags behind because of the camera. With a VGA camera, 640 * 480 pixels the mobile is not made for clicking photos. No shortcut buttons for camera. Only photos in bright daylight comes clean and sharp. Camera has a 4x zoom feature but still it's just not a phone to show off your photography skills.

Making videos is just average because of the resolution that it offers. The first model of this version in the series, X2 had a 5-mega pixel camera which was quite good. A 5-mega pixel camera would have made the X2-01 an irresistible beauty.

One other basic feature of a torch-light and enough memory to save contacts (only saves 1000 contacts) makes the phone a bit lagging for a phone in its segment. Also a bit heavier from the other X2 in the series.

Verdict

The price of the phone is the scoring point. As I said, the phone is in the range of Rs. 3400-3800. Price differs if you buy online or offline. The phone is a good value for money for the money spent.

Nokia X2-01 is good for listening music and surfing the net whereas lacks in providing a good camera. Buy this phone if you are looking especially to listen music, updating your status online and if you already have a good camera to click your photographs. You might be thinking of Nokia 2790 which also provides the same features for a less price than the X2-01. The only and remarkable difference is looks of the phone.
