By kannanwrites

Making a career choice these days is getting tougher, and not everybody gets admission in the sought-after careers such as engineering and medical professionals; nor can many of us become the part of the élite group of bureaucracy.

However, there is no dearth of career options that you can opt for with lower education but still make big bucks. As more and more options emerge there are also chances of greater confusion and uncertainty. While the thumb rule here is to follow your heart and most importantly the desire to get what you plan.

But let me assure you that now there are many such career options that one can pursue and make a name for themselves and also rake in some good amount of moolah.

Lower education here is referred to at least a graduation degree, and with experience in the required field for about 7-10 years to get the desired success. Over a time as you gain experience your prospects in the field increases as the monetary benefits.

Careers choices such as RJ’s, VJ’s, stock market professionals, and even BPO professionals earn respectable salaries when compared to top-level managers in multinational companies. Once considered unconventional careers are now becoming easier to take without parents questioning the choice.

All the careers choices below are assumed that you be at least do graduation and have more than 7 years of experience in the same. In the long-term these choices will be fruitful when you get working experience in the field.

1| Radio Jockeys and Video Jockeys

Do you have a talent to talk more?

Do you like music? I mean who doesn’t

Are you very talkative, yet, your friends feel you have tons of information that they can gather from you.

Then saying “Good Morning…..” to your listeners is what you’ll do if you’re hosting the morning show. Same goes for VJ’s. These people are now earning more and have become a household name. Recognition and money both comes together in this profession.

For example, speaking of the radio industry of India which is at a nascent stage and we now have big conglomerates also coming in to set radio stations across the length and breadth of the country.

Although industry experts say you don't need any formal training to become an RJ but as the competition increases, you'll definitely want to equip yourself with a Diploma in RJ course or something on that lines. No course can guarantee yourself to be a RJ but your language skills, confidence should be excellent.

Many radio and TV channels also come with advertisement to hire professionals.

2| Stock Market Professionals

Any B.com graduate can join as a broker in leading trading companies. Straight out of your college then look for "Trainee" positions in stock brokerage firms.

Once you get properly trained and have some experience then you can move to higher positions. These professionals earn good, but the workload is more and they need be vigilant. There are also some specific courses that can be done to join the stock market. If you want some specific courses then you can look for courses offered by National Stock Exchange.

You should have the ability to analyse a situation properly and keep your cool always. Many people with experience become consultants and handle their independent group of clients.

3| Professional Fitness Trainers/Yoga Teachers

With people becoming more conscious towards health and their overall fitness – fitness experts and yoga trainers will have a major role in shaping people’s overall stature, quite literally. As the famous saying goes “Prevention is better than cure”, increasingly masses are giving the required importance to fitness.

As the Indian masses wake to the benefits of keeping oneself fit in the ever-increasing health hazards of the daily life; right from pollution to space-crunch to ingrained unhygienic habits. Fitness expert will be in demand always.

Also people don't hesitate to spend more for health these days.

The demand for yoga trainers is also going in the northward direction. Not just in India, people from across the world are waking up to the benefits of Yoga, especially in the last few years yoga has grown manifold in the United States and other parts of the west.

4| Actors

Though not all make it to the big screen, but chances are that if you have talent you’ll make it at least to the theater.

And gradually you can look for the mainstream cinema. Start early by taking part in your college festivals etc.

5| BPO Professionals

There exist a notion among public that call center professionals get stuck in their job profiles and don’t get to higher levels. Now there is no dispute that call centers pay well.

Many people do take BPO jobs as a last resort, but then they do earn well. If you are a graduate and are willing to spend many years at a particular company, then making it to the higher levels such as assistant process leader, process leader and other higher positions is not difficult.

Whereas scores of people have made quick bucks and moved on to get their MBA’s with the money they earn.

(Computer Science) with more than five years of experience make it to the higher echelons of small I.T companies, or at least managerial level positions in multinational companies.

Doing an MBA (I.T) accelerates the prospects.

7| Become an Author

Now this may feel overwhelming but it's still possible. Any one with a decent know-how of English can become an author. Trust me.

It's only about your imagination and creativity.

However, publishing your own book through a recognized publisher is tough. With Internet more and more people have the luxury to publish their work and test waters before diving further. Also, with the turn of this decade, self-publishing is a concept which is also gaining more and more ground.

Another aspect of thinking to become an author is that you don't have to leave your current job. On the side, you can try your hand at writing a novel, at least you can start by writing a short story. Like this one which I have written: Baba: Short Story of a Dog

8| Event Managers

Job requirements of event mangers are bachelor’s degree in any stream and a diploma or one year post-graduate program from an institute, though the course is just not compulsory.

Event managers are expected to have great communication skills and they work for projects for event management companies, hotels, big corporate houses to name a few.

9| Tourism Professionals

The tourism industry is one of the largest in terms of people who depend on it, either directly or indirectly.

When compared to our neighbor China, India is far behind in terms of international tourist. However, India’s domestic travel figures are great. Predictions by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation is that the focus is shifting to Asia, and India will definitely emerge as one of the top destination in the coming years.

10| Be Your Own Boss

Entrepreneurship can be taken at the start of your career or else once you have the relevant industry experience you can start your own business. Entrepreneurs today exist in every industry, this was not the case few years back when only big companies had their say.

For example, Naukri.com which is now the top job site was started in 1997 by an individual just like you (Sanjeev Bhikchandani).

Not to mention some of our famous college dropouts, who now have multi-billion dollar industries.
